Steppin Out Saturday

23 Jul

On Saturday Lila and I stepped out in Dandridge. We went to visit my parents. ย Around lunchtime Lila, my mom and I went downtown to the farmer’s market to shop the fresh produce. The farmer’s were wheeling and dealing and wanted to trade us all the tomatoes for Lila….but we just couldn’t do it ๐Ÿ™‚ They also had pasta, honey, flowers, and free samples of bread. Lila really enjoyed that part and almost had a breakdown when her sample was gone. She loves bread, just like her mama! We had to quickly distract her and move on to the next thing.

After the farmer’s market we walked the streets of Dandridge and my mom was telling me the history of all the buildings and showed me where my grandfather had his clothing store many years ago. I always knew he owned a clothing store but I never knew exactly where it was so it was neat to actually see it. Then we visited a new antique store in town and finally ended the afternoon with lunch in a little wrap shop.

Lila was fading fast so we wanted to get her home for a nap. It is only about 2 minutes from downtown to my parent’s house and in that amount of time she was already nodding off so my mom and I starting singing “Old McDonald” so her two minute car nap didn’t cancel out her real nap. Luckily we made it home in time and she napped well….so did mom:)

Hope you all had an awesome Saturday.

Just A Minor Meltdown

16 Jul

Saturday morning Lila and I set out for Market Square. We didn’t really have anything too specific in mind but we just wanted to get out of the house and enjoy the day a bit. I always enjoy the hustle and bustle of downtown, the people watching, all the babies, and the unique flavor of the farmer’s market. The square has a fun fountain for Lila to play in too so it is great for those muggy days.

I just happened to have Lila’s bathing suit in her diaper bag so we did a quick wardrobe change in the square and she was ready to play. It was pretty crowded and there were a lot of older kids playing so I was bit hesitant to let her go. We were already there so I though what the heck. My nerves were being pounced on after about two seconds of being there. The older kids were running WILD and they weren’t watching out for the little ones at all. I guess their parents had dropped them off because no one was there to calm them down or reel them in. They were stepping on the geysers spraying water everywhere and drenching everything and everyone. Now, I really wasn’t trying to be a no fun Nelly so I reminded myself that I was at a water fountain and that it was ok to get wet. Breathe in. Breath out. 1. 2. 3. Repeat. So I have now regained my composure and I am chasing Lila all over the place as she tries to stick trash in her mouth. She was having lots of fun getting sprayed by the water and investigating the other children. As she was running and playing there was a little boy who was about three who kept running into her. Not on purpose, just not paying attention….like all little kids. I was trying my best to stay right with her but you think she going right and she goes left, she’s tricky. Anyway, the little boy came barreling around the the corner into a head on collision with Lila and she went flying backward with her head hitting the concrete. I freaked and the little boy’s father was standing there and helped Lila up. I gathered her up in my arms as she was bawling and drenched. The boys father kept apologizing saying he didn’t mean to. I knew it was an accident but I was upset that it happened and that my baby was hurting. We went and sat down at a table and rocked until she she calmed down. I checked out her head to make sure there was no blood, cuts or major swelling….there wasn’t thank goodness. She does have a nice knot but we are thankful that is all.

We called it a day after that. I think we are gonna stick to sprinklers in the backyard!

Weekend Wrap-Up

4 Jun

The weather this week-end was perfect. I wish it felt like autumn year-round. It gave us lots of opportunities to get outside, run errands, and play. Most of the weekend was really low-key, except for the part where I got a tattoo!

Yes, you read that right….and it was painful but definitely worth it.

This post is gonna be really picture heavy but who doesn’t love a good picture, right?

No sitting down on the job, up and at em!

Walk it off!

It wasn’t long before she was drenched from playing in the water table. She usually doesn’t splash in it a whole lot but of course she did on the day she didn’t have her swimsuit on. So, off with the shirt!

This picture is one of my new favorites, I think because I feel like it makes her look so little in the big yard.

“Hiking through the yard is exhausting, let’s take a breather.”

Sitting on the front porch naked, we keep things classy at our house ๐Ÿ™‚

“Hey mom, did you know there is a swing over here?”

“And, I want to test it out immediately!” Also, one of my new favorites. The look on her face and the way she is holding her stomach cracks me up.

She looks so sad but I swear she was having a good time!

“You’re going to put this on Facebook aren’t you?”

Ok, now that we are caught up on cuteness I have a few tattoo shots.

This was right after the first break, outline only.

Outline and shading are complete. It still has color left to be added but I couldn’t take anymore for the day. I am going back in about 4 weeks to have it finished.

Bandages are off and the healing has begun. There is some bruising and tenderness but I am feeling pretty good.

One more, without the glaring flash.

I’m not gonna lie, it hurt….alot.

But, I love it and it means the world to me.

I was showing Lila this morning and pointing out Mama, Daddy and Baby. Then she immediately wanted to touch it. I let her and she pointed directey at her owl and said, “baby!” I melted on the floor.

That was our weekend, hope yours was wonderful too.

Steppin Out – Mother’s Day Weekend

14 May

Mother’s Day weekend was filled with lots of friends and family.

I got to attend a good friend’s wedding and hang out with my best girls:)

Lila and Josh had a daddy and daughter afternoon and went to see family in Newport. I hate I had to miss it but the wedding was lots of fun!

We had some JLJ time. We have called ourselves this since high school. (Jamie, Laura,Jamie) Baby Bray is making his presence known though, so he got to be included:)

Sunday morning we had brunch at Copper Cellar with my parents. This was our best attempt at a family photo. Lila was exhausted and ready for a nap so she wasn’t up for picture time.

My sweet girl.

Me and my mama. Love her.

All Things Lila

Giggles.

Quality time with G-Mama.

Sweet feet.

Tankini time!

Must squeeze into the chair.

Don’t forget my sunscreen mom.

Learning to push the wagon, not just ride in it.

Whoops, tipped over:)

She loved splashing around in the wagon and thought me spraying her was hilarious.

Loving: This little girl^. She is into everything these days and isn’t really interested in sitting still. She has started randomly walking up to me and wrapping her arms around my legs while laying her head against me. Heart explodes. Also, when we are doing grocery shopping and she is riding in the buggy she will reach up and give me a hug. BEST.THING.EVER.

Watching: What About Brian. This is a older show that was only on for 2 seasons but they are all on hulu and I have been obsessed. I have been told that it ends abruptly and I will be really disappointed but that hasn’t stopped me.

Anticipating: The weekend. We are going to have a small celebration for Josh’s birthday and I am excited to hang out with friends and get out of the house.

Thinking about: Houses. Our house has been on the market just under a week and I am anxious for the first showing and to get some feedback. Even though we can’t buy until we sell our house it is fun to scope out other possibilities online. I am decorating non-existent rooms in my head.

Listening to: We have been listening to The Everybodyfields a lot lately. This song is one of my favorites. Kinda sad but very touching.

Eating: I am obsessed with these blueberry belvita biscuits.

Feeling thankful for: My family, a warm bed, not having to worry about my next meal, unconditional love and all the little things I overlook on a daily basis.

Family Fun Times

12 Apr

Yay! I got my camera back:) The family shipped it to me super quick! This is some fun we had with the family over the weekend.

Family love time.

Eating puffs, or um, dropping puffs everywhere.

“I didn’t do it, whatever it is, I didn’t do it.”

The girl will eat anything.

This is Lila’s cousin Ella. She is so cute and funny and it appears she likes good kisses too. She says the most hysterical things. I was changing Lila’s diaper and she came up to Lila and said, “I like your lil body.” I die, how cute.

Lila was done. This was the night she was so overtired and exhausted that she couldn’t sleep.

We were so happy to get to spend the day with everyone. Life gets so busy that it just doesn’t happen as much as it should.

Easter Weekend

9 Apr

We had a wonderful weekend full of friends, family and good food. We went to see my mom and dad, Lila’s great-grandparents, and lots of cousins. I took my camera and made lots of pictures on Saturday but I left in in Johnson City…boo on me. I got a few pictures on my phone though so I am not going through complete withdrawal of having no camera:)

Saturday was such a busy a day with so much traveling and so many people to see. By the time we made it to my parent’s house at 10pm Lila was overly tired. It was a rough night for us. She was so tired that she was restless and up down and up and down all night. This is not like her. However, this seems to be a pattern with her when we have jam-packed days and she doesn’t get a whole lot of down time.

I was wiped by Sunday morning but we managed to get up and make it to church, and then Lila came back to dig in to her Easter basket. This entertained her for about 5 minutes. We didn’t dye eggs this year because I knew it would be incredibly messy with a one-year old but I look forward to doing it next year.

We had a wonderful Easter and I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.

Mama and Lila being silly ๐Ÿ™‚

Taste-testing all the toys.

“Mom, is this for me?”

Lila’s sweet Easter dress.

Lovin on the G-parents.

Our Weekend

26 Mar

We had a fun and productive weekend!

Lila broke in her new birthday toys.

On Saturday morning I was able to get my long run in. I feel much more ready for the race now. My time may not be all that great but I feel like I can finish. My friend Emily played with Lila while I was out for a run. They had lots of fun and Lila got to try out some new headgear. She may be a runner one day!

Lila also carved some time out of her busy schedule to cheese for the camera.

And chat loudly in her crib while I documented.

BUT, most importantly…Lila danced.

This made me smile for the rest of the day:)

Steppin Out Saturday

12 Mar

We had a very productive Saturday!

We got up and hand some play time and then I was able to get my long run in. I am feeling a little bit more confident about the half marathon and thinking it may be a bit more within reach. I’m still not where I would like to be but this was ย a better week as far as getting my runs in.

After Lila woke up from her nap we ran a TON of errands to get all the final things for her birthday party coming up on Saturday. She watched as I bought some of her gifts and then I quickly told her she had to forget about them by next weekend. She agreed she wouldn’t rat me out.

Once all our errands were complete we went to meet the G-parents for dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant, Altruda’s. When we got home Lila was wiped and passed out before she could even finish her bottle.

We had such a good day together:)
